THE MAGICIANS RENEWED FOR SEASON 3

Image result for the magicians

The Magicians is renewed for Season 3!! (Link: http://tvline.com/2017/04/12/the-magicians-renewed-season-3-syfy/)

This is great news! The Magicians is based on Lev Grossman’s books. I haven’t read the books (yet!), but, from what I read here and there, the TV show is a little different.

The TV show is about some students from Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy. Quentin is the main character, but the show doesn’t focus only on his story. Quentin loves a fantasy book series about a place called Fillory, which is very important for the situation the characters are living.

I have to say that the show has dark themes too and weird things happens all the time. I like how it is unpredictable and different from other shows with “magic theme”. I recommend it!

LIST: HURTFUL CANCELATIONS

I made a list of some hurtful cancelations. I didn’t put shows that had had a long and happy existence, but the ones which didn’t have a chance.

8) ALMOST HUMAN

Image result for almost human

The pilot was great. It reminded me of “I, Robot”. It had a complex mystery, that, unfortunately, they didn’t developed. I think they focused too much on the procedure part and forgot to develop the actual story. It never went deep. I don’t know if a second season could fix everything, but the show wasted a good story and good actors.

7) THE TOMORROW PEOPLE

Image result for the tomorrow people

I think TTP started great, the story and the characters were interesting and so were the ratings. Unfortunately, some things weren’t well executed and the show lost viewers. I think that a second season could’ve fixed what wasn’t functioning in the show, because it definitely had potential.

6) SMASH

Image result for smash tv show

I saw that cancelation coming, but it hurt anyway. Smash’s first season wasn’t perfect, but was consistent. The competition to be the protagonist of the musical was the main plot, and the season finale, for me, was perfect. The second season, though, didn’t start very strong and it only got worse. The new Smash was too “Gossip Girl”, the storylines weren’t compelling either. I kept wishing for a new chance, but it never came. I miss the songs too, all the cast is very talented.

5) RAISING THE BAR

This show is one of the best legal dramas I’ve ever watched. The cases were touching and the focus was on the people and their cases, not on how to maneuver to win, like other legal shows do.

4) LIMITLESS

Image result for limitless tv show

Limitless was one of the new TV Shows that I was most enjoying. Although I wish it was less procedural, I loved the story and the characters. It was even better to see the protagonist of the movie there. I think it had so much potential and it was fun to watch.

3) AGENT CARTER

Image result for agent carter tv show

I like Agent Carter more than Agents of SHIELD. It was clever, fun and a real delight. Peggy is a strong lead character and I liked the male characters too, especially Jarvis. I was upset when it ended (and with a cliffhanger!). I hated when Netflix didn’t want to pick it up.

2) CONSTANTINE

Image result for constantine tv show

I knew the cancelation would happen when they announced it on NBC on a Friday night. This was a perfect CW show. Constantine is a character different from from the others, an anti-hero. I admit that the season wasn’t great, but, like Supergirl, this could’ve been changed. I had hope that CW would pick it up.

1) JOHN DOE
Image result for john doe tv show
I think nobody remembers this show. It is from 2002. The show was about a guy who didn’t remember anything about him, but knew everything about whatever topic. It had a lot of mysteryes and it ended without telling any of them. And it ended with a horrible cliffhanger. I never recovered from this cancellation. The worst part? At that time, I didn’t know anything about cancellations, so I just waited for the show to comeback. And waited and waited, but it never did.

REVIEW: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES SERIES FINALE

Image result for the vampire diaries

This last season wasn’t the best. I didn’t like the sirens very much and Damon was so annoying without his humanity! But, the last episode was very good! It was all about the good times.

They were fighting the first villain, Katharine Pierce, who was commanding hell after Cade died. It was about the journey of two brothers that, despite everything, loved each other. They brought back all the characters in a way or another, and even though most of them didn’t have any lines (like Jeremy), it was nice to see them.

So, Katharine wanted to bring hell on Mystic Falls, but Bonnie had a plan, a plan that needed a sacrifice. Damon and Stefan discussed about who “deserved” to be the sacrifice and, in the end, Stefan outsmarted Damon and died. Before that, he injected the cure on Damon, so he could live a normal life with Elena.

The last scenes showed Elena and Damon walking together and then meeting their loved ones, meaning they had lived happily together till they died and met their families. It was a nice scene.

What I didn’t like this season, including the last episode:

-Tyler went back just to die. What was that? So meaningless!

-Why was Bonnie deprived of happiness? Look at her story, she deserved to find happiness with Enzo. Everything always goes bad for Bonnie. That was unfair.

-Stefan deserved better. I say this considering the hole series. He was Elena’s love for a long time, but, when they’d put Elena and Damon together, it was all about how it was always Damon. He didn’t have to die in the end.

-Damon became too annoying. Never learning from his mistakes and I was tired of how the only thing that could make him act “good” was Elena.

Even though it wasn’t how I would like it to end, it was very consistent and I’m going to miss the show.

REVIEW: GRIMM SERIES FINALE

Image result for grimm season 6
The last two episodes were all about the Zerstörer. After learning that he had went trhough the mirror, the gang needs to find and kill him. Meanwhile, Adalind, Renard and the kids are hiding in the cabin from the first episode of Grimm – I liked how they wanted to make a reference about the beginning of the show, but I think the flashbacks weren’t necessary. I mean, there was so much to do with just two episodes left!
I have to admit that I was worry about Wu and Hank, because I couldn’t believe that after all these years they would kill one of the gang. I was furious!
Then, when the Zerstörer started to kill ALL characters, I thought that everything was going to be alright!
I loved how all the grimms fought together in the end. The final scenes were great too, Nick coming back through the mirror and finding everyone alive was very sweet. Then they jumped to the future and we see Kelly and Diana. This finale was so Grimm! It mirroes what the show was for all these 6 seasons.
What I thought was weird was how Diana simply started to like the Zerstörer. Why? Did I miss something? Then her parents died, because of him, and she has zero reaction!
I didn’t like Nick beating Trubel either. I understand that he wanted all of them back, but the scene made me uneasy and it wasn’t something a hero was supposed to do.
Oh, and I wanted to see the triplets, to know their gender and what kind of wesen they are. What a shame.
Would you watch a spin off with Kelly, Diana and the triplets? I would!

LIST: BRITISH TV SHOWS TO WATCH

I made this list with some of the British TV Shows that I like and recommend.

Let me know your opinion about them and, most important, if you know another amazing British TV Show, please tell me.

5) TORCHWOOD

 Image result for torchwood

The doctor who spin off started as a darker show, aiming a mature audience. The group, lead by Captain Jack Harkness, deals with aliens’ matters.

The reason why Torchwood is on the bottom of this list is its hidious fourth (and last) season. The show moved from BBC to Starz and was completely americanized. They’ve also simply ignored what was created in Doctor Who. The plot was full of holes too.

Despite of that, I recommend seasons 1-3 and, then, pretend it just ended there, since season 3 finale serves as a great series finale!

4) MISFITS

 Image result for misfits

This show is about a group of misfits that gain powers after a storm. What makes the show fun is the fact that the characters are not heroes, on the contrary, they’re doing Community Service, and they make a lot of messes with their weird powers.

The show is consistent till the end.

3) DOWNTON ABBEY

 Image result for downton abbey

This show is a delight! I love everything about the historical period drama, the clothes, the characters, the landscape, all of it! The lives of the Crawley family and their staff are very interesting and the show has many sides, romance, war, prejudice, among others. The women are strong and bold, way ahead of their time.

I have to say that I enjoyed seasons 1-3 more than seasons 4-6. I didn’t like some plots and sometimes it felt a little repetitive. The end was ok, but I expected more.

2) SHERLOCK

 Image result for sherlock

The best adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. The chemistry between him and Watson is amazing, I feel like they’re almost brothers. I like how the episodes are more extensive, and a lot of them are based on Sherlock Holmes’ books.

The fourth season had bad reviews, but I think they were a little harsh. I didn’t like some stuff, but it had good parts too.

I hope it isn’t the end.

1) DOCTOR WHO

Image result for doctor who series 4

Doctor Who is about an alien (The Doctor), who travels through time and space, usually with a human companion.

The reason why it’s number one is because of seasons 1-7. I liked season 8, but season 9, for me, was just horrible. I didn’t enjoy any of the episodes, it just doesn’t feel like old doctor who anymore.

But, focusing on the good, the show is clever and fun, it has lighter and darker themes and, the fact that The Doctor and his companions keep changing, it’s a good thing, because it doesn’t get weary.

I also like how the episodes are all linked by the main story of the season.

I’ll keep watching, hoping that it gets some of its magic back, especially now that they’ve announced a new executive producer. Don’t get me wrong, some of my favorite stories are from Steven Moffat’s era, but I think he stayed too long and ran out of good ideas.

REVIEW: DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW SEASON 2 FINALE

Image result for dc legends of tomorrow legion of doom

This week, another season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow came to an end.

The last two episodes were very interesting. First, they have shown the Legion of Doom’s perspective. They stole the Spear of Destiny and created their own perfect reality, but, while Eobard wanted to destroy the Spear and make the reality permanent, his mates had different plans.

Meanwhile, the Legends started to realize the reality was wrong and decided to act quickly. His plans went wrong when Snart killed Amaya and Eobard succeeded in destroying the Spear.

I liked how The Legion was winning. Putting these villains together were a great idea and I liked their motivations. Sometimes I even rooted for them to win, especially after how the Legends had treated Mick.

After all that, the Legends’ only alternative was to go back in time and prevent the Legion of Doom to succeed, breaking the first rule of time travel – never interact with your past self.

About that, Eobard was very clever the whole episode (I didn’t expect less) and the Legion managed to kill some of the Legends (the time aberrations), which I also enjoyed, because these guys were the main villains of Arrow and Flash.

What I didn’t like was Snart killing Mick. I don’t think he would do that, even if Mick didn’t want to do whatever he says. I think he tries to manipulate Mick sometimes, but I don’t think that he treats Mick like a dog, as they’ve pointed out. Sorry, but Snart and Mick belong together.

Another thing that I didn’t like was Rip leaving the ship. It is HIS ship and HE should be the captain.

Overall, I think this season was way better than the previous.

A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS RENEWED FOR A THIRD SEASON

Image result for a series of unfortunate events netflix

According to TV Line, Netflix just renewed A Series Of Unfortunate Events for a third season! Here’s the link: http://tvline.com/2017/04/04/a-series-of-unfortunate-events-season-3-renewed-netflix-neil-patrick-harris/

With that, the fans have the certainty that the Netflix adaptation will cover all the books, unlike the film adaptation.

The first season adapted four of the thirteen books and, in my opinion, the adaptation is just perfect. The characters and story are faithful to the original, and the few changes just made it better.

I can’t wait for next season, especially because “The Austere Academy” is one of my favorite books from the series.

For those who doesn’t know the TV Show or the books, here is a very quickly summary:
The Baudelaires (Violet, Klaus and Sunny) return from a walk on the beach and found their home destroyed by a fire, which also culminate with the perishing of their parents’ lives.
After that, the children are sent to live in a variety of places, always being followed by the eveil Count Olaf, who wants the family’s fortune.

I highly recommend it!
